John Bernard Murless was the 12th and the 23rd Mayor of Wrexham, He was born in 1829 from Taunton in Somerset but came to Wrexham from County Cork in Ireland in 1864. His wife Clara Amelia was born in London and their son Charles was born in Canterbury. Mr Murless became the tenant of the principal hotel in Wrexham “The Wynnstay Arm’s”. He was chosen as Mayor in 1871 to 1872 and again in 1883 to 1884. He was also a member of the Wrexham School Board. He retired from his tenancy business in 1888. In politics John Bernard Murless was a Conservative. He was noted for his generosity and his seasonable gifts that where greatly appreciated. His son Charles Murless, who was a J.P., succeeded him at the Wynnstay Arm’s Hotel. He passed away the same year that he retired 1888 in Bryn Offa aged 60 years. Researched by John Davies.
