Miss Mossford remembers the Choir Mistress at St Michael's Church being really strict with the Choirboys. If the Vicar was coming to preach at the Church (there wasn't a Vicar in residence at that time) she would visit all the boys’ homes to make sure that they would all be present on the Sunday and that their robes were in pristine condition. Miss Mossford also remembers playing table tennis in the cellar of the Church where the coke for the boiler was kept; the youth also had a singsong down there. They got very dirty. She also has memories of a children's service every Sunday in the Church. This was before the war and residents used to open their windows to hear the wonderful singing.
