He was the son of William Overton snr who had a grocer and ironmonger’s shop on Charles street, He was born in 1813 and carried on the business on High street, He was also a partner with his brother-in-law as a wine merchant at the old Town Hall vaults. He married Elizabeth the daughter of Mr Johnson of the Eagles (now the Wynnstay Arms Hotel) he was also very interested in the Wrexham Infirmary and was the chairman for many years, Mr Overton died on Jan 6th 1882 aged 85.
