Charles Herbert Murless the son of Mr John Burnard Murless was born in 1853, he attended Grove Park School in Wrexham, that is now a Grade 2 Listed building. He was the 33rd Mayor of Wrexham for two years, from 1894 to 1896, He came to Wrexham with his father in 1864 from County Cork in Ireland. He went to London as an apprentice to a wine and spirit merchants to learn the wholesale business. He returned to Wrexham in 1878 and succeeded his father as the proprietor of the Wynnstay Hotel in 1888, he was also a licensee for many years of the Great Western Railway Station Refreshment Rooms in Wrexham, he was also a parcel agent for the Great Western Railway. In 1898 he lost interest in the Hotel and went to live at Bersham Hall. He was appointed a magistrate in 1899 and was trustee under the Will of a Mr John Jones and was also the Chairman of the John Jones Convalescent Home in Minera and Rhyl. Then after that we went on to stay at Plaspower Farm and became the Chairman of Wrexham Gas Company and the Wrexham Steam Laundry. He was married to Miss Susannah Harriet Peate (niece to John Jones) of Pentreclawdd, Oswestry in 1878 and they had one son and two daughters. He passed away on the 27th November 1938 aged 85 years.
