The children of Victoria School did useful work to help the war effort including collecting hips to make rose hip syrup, tending the school garden to keep a supply of fruit and vegetables for local people The garden was across the road from the school. The older children also worked on a farm at Felin Puleston. Lifting the potatoes and all other vegetables. The farm work was done after school hours and the pupils were given lemonade and cakes for their efforts.
